Master Bath Transformation

Warm tones, cream granite counters and a layout that already worked. This Salmon Creek kitchen remodel started as one room and ended up being most of the house.

This Salmon Creek kitchen remodel turned into most of the house

First round: kitchen, downstairs bathroom, laundry room
Two years later: full master bath and a whole-home repipe
Trades: cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing, electrical, finish carpentry

The kitchen

Custom white shaker cabinets, cream granite counters and a built-in microwave drawer set under the counter rather than hung over the range, which buys back the wall and the sightline. The footprint did not change. It did not need to — the room was the right shape, it was just carrying thirty years of the wrong cabinets.

That is worth saying plainly, because moving plumbing and walls is where kitchen budgets go. If the layout works, leaving it alone is not a compromise. It is the reason this one landed where it did.

Then the call back

Two years after the kitchen, the same homeowners called about the master bath. Full-height white subway tile, black fixtures, a walk-in shower and a double vanity — and while the walls were open, a whole-home repipe.

Repiping is not a glamorous line item and nobody sees it afterward. It is also the sort of thing that only makes sense to do while somebody already has the walls open, which is why it happened on this job and not as its own miserable project later.

The compact powder room got a refresh in the same stretch.
